We used Watermark (and Steve Jackson) for what we considered to be a fairly major renovation project at our home in North Dallas. My wife and I found a home in our "dream neighborhood," but we wanted to make some upgrades in the kitchen, living room, and master bathroom. Over 3-4 months, we did some major work (i.e. "take it to the studs" in most rooms) and Steve got it completed on time and on budget -- with many compliments from our friends and family.
Before the renovation, we met with several different contractors that provided a series of construction plans and budgets. Steve did that too, but he offered so much more. Most of all, we were impressed by Steve's attention to detail and his keen eye for architecture. For example, most contractors "eye balled" the room measurements. Not Steve. On his first visit, he took measurements of every room and could immediately work with us on room design (or re-design) that helped us envision the yet-to-be-completed project.
In addition, other contractors "suggested" that we hire an architect to help with the plans. But the bonus of working with Steve was that his architecture background gave us a "two in one" that could help us envision how we would utilize the house (i.e. you'll want the sink here; the oven here; the pantry here; a door here; etc).
In my opinion, this was a huge asset to our remodel plan as we were able to review (and modify) building plans before we started work -- and Steve had some excellent input about "the flow" of our certain rooms in our future layout. Before selecting Steve, we spoke to about 5-7 people that worked with Steve on prior projects and they all offered glowing recommendations of him -- and his work.
During the renovation, Steve worked hard to keep his sub-contractors on schedule and routinely updated us on their progress. If we had a modification to our plans, Steve was always willing to find a solution. He also worked closely with us to select light fixtures, cabinet designs, and granite slabs. For other parts, he worked with my wife to "create" her dream kitchen and they would routinely share photos from magazines or the internet so he could best understand what we were "looking for."
He did some major work. New hardwood floors that look excellent. A new "rain shower" with a built-in bench that my wife loves. Expanding our kitchen by moving the water and A/C to the attic that allowed us to put an island in the kitchen. Removing a massive (truly massive) fireplace and installing a natural gas fireplace. This was not an easy job and his work was excellent.
Now that our remodel project is complete, we can offer our highest recommendation for Steve and Watermark. We are truly happy with the final outcome and it was not a surprising result given Steve's hard work and incredible attention to detail that we now have our "dream home."Helpful 9Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Susan W.Plano, TX0615May 17, 2016
We first discovered Watermark Design Build Remodel and Steve Jackson through Yelp and the good reviews we found. We had had several other trades out to quote "fixing" our outdated and non-functional sunroom to no avail. Steve came out in February 2016 to see our project and provided advice and creativity to solve our dilemma. We have an older home and are the fourth owners. An enclosed sunroom had been added and changed over the years to create an area from the previous outdoor patio with an in ground spa into an interior area of the home. In our opinion, none of the intended improvements were anything but improvements. After a week or so of demolition of the roof, existing patio foundation, and in ground spa, the construction began by his awesome crew. Shout out to the boys Carlos (concrete), Jorge (carpentry), Ruben (electrician), and Ramero (drywall/paint).
To make a long story short, Steve was able to bring back our patio, now partially covered, by removing the flat roof and bringing back the original roof line, soffits, fascia, and gutters. We created an inviting interior area to 12' of exterior double sliding doors with room for a future dry bar with new pendant lighting. We also re-positioned the garage door entry with an added mud room area with re-positioned doggie door, closet, window, and all new recessed LED lighting on the interior and exterior.
After Watermark's DBR's completion we had a local patterned concrete company finish off the outdoor area with a new patio, pool decking, pool coping, and pool tile. The transformation was extremely better than ever expected.
Steve was knowledgeable, creative, and understood our desires. Seeing his plans come to life have brought back life to our messed up old home and enjoyment in being in the backyard once again. We can't wait to host out of town family for Memorial Day weekend. We are planning on having Watermark back in the near future to create an open feel from the kitchen to the living room. Ready for another adventure! Thanks, Steve, for all you do.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Terra M.Dallas, TX87873Sep 28, 2015
Firstly, I have not received services from this company. I'm only reviewing based on communication interaction, or rather LACK THEREOF. I have sent an email on their website, as well as left a message on their voicemail by phone. Have not received a reply or a return call. I called again on two separate occasions, and no one ever seems to answer. What appealed to me about this company was the before and after photos posted by another Yelper. I'm wanting to change the layout of my kitchen, in addition to other extensive interior remodeling. With the architectural background this company has, I thought they would be the best choice. It's just unfortunate that they have poor communication with new/potential clients. Rapport is so very important in huge investments such as home improvement; and so far, I don't have a very comforting impression with how this company engages with its clients.

Ms. Terra is correct in stating that she is not, and has never been, a client of WaterMarkDBR, LLC. WaterMark has never been commissioned to perform any work on her behalf.
While WaterMark is not aware of, or have record of, the communication attempts that Ms. Terra M. lists, we certainly want to take this time to extend our sincere apologizes to her for any miscommunications that may have occurred. We welcome Ms. Terra M. to call our office direct at 972-524-5100, or email us at info@watermarkdbr.com for any further discussions that she may find warranted.
We feel that WaterMark is a great fit for most clients, especially those that seek a true "design-build" experience. WaterMark does not sub-contract project designs or construction management. We pride ourselves on remaining a smaller local and independent D/B firm, which allows our teams to remain focused on each project we accept, from start to finish. - Rosalie C.The Colony, TX124131Aug 25, 2016
I highly recommend WaterMark design.build.remodel for ANY residential repair. I encountered a plumbing emergency and needed immediate service. I contacted WaterMark for help and Steve Jackson responded within minutes and assured me he could come out ASAP to assess the situation. He had the highest form of customer service. His communication was impeccable. He was thorough in his explanation of the problem and was able to assess and repair the issue within an hour. His costs were minimal, which is hard to find these days. He is trustworthy and honest, and his work is superior. I will not hesitate to use this company again with any issue I encounter in the future. If I could give them more than 5 stars I would.

I used Watermark (and Steve Jackson) for extensive home reconstruction and repair work after severe flooding damage to my home earlier in the spring and summer. He had come highly recommended to me by some engineer friends I have. The scope of work they did for me was very broad including regrading the entire side of my home, building an attractive retaining wall, placing a drainage system to divert water properly away from the home, removing and repairing damaged walls inside the home, replacing damaged baseboards, door frames and doors and repainting the first floor.
Throughout the process, the whole team, headed by Steve, was professional and helpful. Steve's sub contractors are very hard workers, and they make sure the job is completed properly. Steve obviously has extensive background in architecture as he understood how to fix the problem with the drainage issue with the home (which had been incorrectly constructed from the get go with this home years ago.) For the first phase of the job, the team had to remove a large amount of dirt by hand from the side of the house to help with drainage which was very labor intensive as the area was too narrow to use machinery, yet it as completed promptly and efficiently. Steve was always responsive to any questions I had and was always easy to reach with questions, whether that be by phone, email or text. He worked with my schedule on when repairs could be completed. He has followed up with me even after the job was completed to make sure everything was working properly with the drainage system. I could not be more pleased with the finished product. Recently, the work they did has been tested out as we are now having heavy rains here again and I have had no flooding problems as they fixed the issue completely. You cannot go wrong with this company and Steve!!Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Business owner information

Although this project was more of a "repair" project, rather than the traditional remodels we undertake, and was a direct result of a poorly installed grading and drainage system by the original builder, it was extensive nonetheless.
Unfortunately our client "inherited" this problem following the purchase of the home, and was not disclosed of the threat that was about to cause harm to her major investment. Prior to making the repairs inside the home, WaterMarkDBR, LLC was able to design and oversee a new drainage solution, along with the required retaining wall. Following the correction, we allowed nature to take its course, and "leak test" the design solution with the heavy rain downpours over the course of a week, which provided us proof that the designed system worked flawlessly. No leaks into her home any longer! Following the leak tests, we were then able to make the necessary aesthetic repairs inside the home, which included replacing damaged sheetrock, baseboards, casing, jambs, and paint.
Leeanne was great to work with, and was very accommodating for all involved. We are very pleased that her home is now back in order, and she is able to enjoy her home as intended, with her mind now at ease. - Eileen D.Dallas, TX01Dec 27, 2015
I purchased my childhood home. It needed a remodel to update and make it feel like my own! The kitchen was gutted and opened up to the family room. A wall separating the front room to the kitchen was removed to open up the flow through the front part of house. Steve built a pantry which has allowed me a ton of storage space. New cabinets and stainless steel appliances were installed. Hardwood floors with a beautiful stain went in the kitchen, family room, front room, entryway and hall. New carpet was put in bedrooms.
A wrap around fence with an electric gate was placed after grading the yard. New sod went in the front and most of back yard. I lived in the house during the remodel and Steve and his crew were very considerate of this. Steve was extremely patient while the mortgage process was taking place and I am appreciate him sticking with me. He is available when you have questions and keeps you informed of how the project is moving. It took approx 4 months and was within budget. I am very pleased with his work and the result of the project!!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0
